ABOUT SAPH VISION QUEST ASSOCIATION INC:

Since its establishment in 1999, SAPH Vision Quest Association Inc. has been conducting professional Youth and Adult ‘Self-Esteem’, ‘Leadership’, and ‘Life Skills’ programs.

Formally incorporated in 2002, the Association has been assisting young people and families, particularly those coming from a situation of disadvantage.

Staffed primarily by volunteers with a wide range of qualifications (e.g. management, marketing, motivation, horticulture and counselling); all are ‘Blue Card’ registered, and our supervisors hold current first aid qualifications.

ABOUT OUR PROGRAMS:

Our 'New Beginnings' TM Youth Self-Esteem and Leadership Programs have been designed to give participants ‘time out’ in a quiet and natural environment; and to assist them in developing Leadership Skills and Self-Esteem while focusing on Ecological Awareness, Communication, Group Interaction Skills, Principles of Community and Leadership.

They are targeted at young people 10 – 15 years of age, primarily those coming from a disadvantaged background or home situation (e.g. experiencing learning or social difficulties, no original parents, etc.). Our programs offer a sound means of Prevention and Early Intervention (PEI) for potentially at-risk young people.

NOTE: We rely entirely on grants and/or donations for the continuance of our work.

OUR CORE PRINCIPLES:

The core principles SAPH Vision Quest focus on are:

Early and effective identification of at-risk young people with a high potential of slipping into problems with crime, drugs, and/or alcohol.

Delivery of a needs-based program that is proven to have a dramatic, positive, long-term impact on the program participants’ lives and behaviour.

To reduce anti-social behaviour and foster an ability in participants to have a positive effect on peer groups, creating positive change in the surrounding community.
